What exactly is the World Community Grid?
World Community Grid, sponsored by IBM, is a global organization that utilized the power
of your PC to help solve humanitarian problems all around the world, such as solutions for world hunger, cures
for diseases, mapping the human genome and other various research projects that aids humanity. World
Community Grid does not need your time or money in order to support its
efforts. It simply harnesses the power of your unused and otherwise
wasted computer idling time to perform the calculations needed to find
answers to the world's most crucial problems. World Community Grid
is composed of millions of volunteers from all across the world
including universities, corporations, small businesses and home users.
By simply installing the lightweight and secure BOINC World Community
Grid software on your personal computer, your system will begin to
assist in calculating solutions for the AIDS virus, cancer and many other significant
issues that jeopardize modern society.
What exactly is grid computing?
"Grid computing joins together many individual
computers, creating a large system with massive computational power that
far surpasses the power of a handful of supercomputers. Because the

Community Grid has contributed a significant amount of computing time to really help make a difference.
Every PC and server at R.E.K. Technology Solutions donates any spare
idling time to World Community Grid projects. In addition, many of our
clients have also joined our team as well to aid our efforts. If you are

R.E.K. Technology Solutions Personal Computer Recycling Program
R.E.K. Technology Solutions has partnered with World Community Grid
to bring you the R.E.K. Technology Solutions Personal Computer
Recycling Program. Through this program, R.E.K. Technology Solutions now
gives you the option of donating your old PC for the sole purpose of
performing computations for World Community Grid rather than having
it simply thrown away or recycled. Your PC will perform these
computations for as long as possible until the day it fails due to age,
in which case the machine is then recycled.
